Experience Summary
I have taught special needs for 25 years, and third grade for nine years. While teaching special needs I worked with many kinds of students, including those with: autism, physical disabilities, downs syndrome, fetal alcohol syndrome, ODB, and many others. I worked in segregated and inclusive settings. I believe in inclusion, if it is done by people who believe in it and know how to do it. While teaching third grade, I was the ELL designated teacher. I worked with new English speakers from: Bosnia, Mexico, and Viet Nam, all in an immersion setting. I have received several educational awards. I absolutely love teaching.
Teaching Style
I love working with all kinds of children. As a third grade teacher I loved having: inclusion students, ELL children, Tit. I kids, and ELP children, all in one room. I encouraged many different teachers to work with me in my classroom. I enjoy meeting the needs of the full continuum of learners through the use of lots of movement, working with partners, and working in small groups. I use lots of praise, and consistent consequences for my management system. I love teaching.
