Experience Summary
Although I have a degree in Liberal Studies and Criminal Justice, I have always loved math. Several years after graduating from college, I was offered the opportunity to teach math at Glenville High School in Cleveland. I genuinely love teaching; I only left Glenville because of the cutbacks in 2004. Since that time I have continued to teach at various high schools and with the Baldwin-Wallace College Upward Bound Program. I am able to teach math, from Pre-Algebra through Calculus. I have also tutored all levels of math and continue to do so. I tutor the students in the Upward Bound Program, as well as those at the high schools I’ve taught at. Additionally, I tutor for the Ohio Graduation Test. I am currently working on my Masters in Educational Technology, as well as a teaching license in mathematics (grades 7-12).
Teaching Style
I have worked in education for more than six years and am very dedicated to fostering student growth and development. I genuinely love teaching and tutoring students. My years in education have taught me that every child can learn and succeed but I also believe that each student learns differently and tutoring must be individualized to meet that student’s needs. I also believe that it is vitally important to assist students to develop a love of learning. I am organized, focused and thorough, yet I am laid-back and relaxed and use humor in tutoring and teaching; I feel this helps students to see learning as fun rather than a chore. I am passionate about teaching and want to assist students in being prepared and successful.
