Experience Summary
In addition to my already expansive coursework in philosophy, I took courses in computer science, chemistry and English literature. This breadth of exposure has given me a unique base of knowledge on which to draw for teaching. I have tutored many subjects throughout the last seven years, including most college-level math, sciences and arts. During the past year, I have held both a software training position at the University of South Florida, and an instructor position for Kaplan Test Prep and Admissions, which have together led to unprecedented confidence in the classroom.
Teaching Style
The key to enjoyment and success in any subject lies in the student realizing how the material relates to their life. This can be revealed to them in various ways, usually through demonstration of practical applications or hypothetical extrapolation of situational relevance. But I have found that the communication of my own passion for learning is the most powerful tool I have in activating a student's interest. No matter how negative they might have been to the material initially, they are invariably set at ease in the presence of a charismatic instructor, who is not only thoroughly knowledgeable on the subject, but also enjoys the study of it immensely.
