Experience Summary
As an educator, my teaching experience of 16 years spans across different cultures. I have taught in Jamaica, Bahamas, and the United States. It includes teaching at kindergarten, middle, and high school levels. The subjects I have taught include history, social studies, geography, life/study skills, economics, reading, and mathematics. At my last teaching job, I worked in the after school tutorial program to help students with homework and to prepare them for the FCAT. I have always worked to gain the necessary training and certification along with regular attendance to various workshops to keep abreast of changes in the educational arena. My experience and training have provided me with a wealth of knowledge and expertise that I take into the classroom.
Teaching Style
Walt Disney stated, "Our greatest natural resources are the minds of our children." As an educator for many years, I have utilized various teaching styles to develop our children's minds. I have helped capture my students' interest by providing an interactive environment and utilizing my creative skills in a changing world, which provides so many distractions. Setting high expectations, achievable goals and creating a positive learning environment goes a long way in the motivation of my students.
