Experience Summary
I graduated in 2003 with a Bachelors degree in Biology and immediately started graduate school at the University of Toledo in the Molecular and Cellular Biology Masters program. I attended UT in this program from 2003 to 2006 and am currently working on finishing my degree. Throughout my graduate experience I was a teachers assistant for various biology courses. I taught Introductory Biology I, Introductory Biology II and Microbiology. I continued as a part-time Instructor after completing my coursework in July of 2006 and during this time I was also employed at the science museum COSI Toledo until December of 2007. During my stay at COSI, I was able to take part in educating Toledo’s adults and children in an informal setting at the science museum. I organized and created workshops, demonstrations and activities that taught various concepts from different science disciplines.
Teaching Style
I believe very strongly in science education. One way of ensuring that today’s children become tomorrows scientists is to get them excited about learning science in their classrooms. I have had experience with children of all ages and I believe that it is important to make the learning experience both educational and enjoyable. I pride myself on providing the best experience possible all the while making sure that the individual, whether it is a child or an adult, is learning.
