Experience Summary
As an undergraduate, with a double-major in English and Philosophy and an Art History minor, I tutored undergraduate writing, worked as a private tutor, taught courses in writing, conducted museum tours in both the U.S. and the U.K. and spent one year studying at Oxford. I have worked as an editor for Ocean Drive, the most prominent magazine in Miami, and was recently hired as Managing Editor of the Biscayne Boulevard Times. I bring with me trans-Atlantic cultural and academic experience, extensive knowledge of art, writing, literature, philosophy and history, and an MA from a top-five U.K. university.
Teaching Style
I am rather intuitive, informal and sensitive. I approach students as whole people (something I learned from Socratic philosophy teachers and Jesuit professors) attempting to get into their heads and understand not only what they need to learn, but what motivates and interests them. I have had great success as a teacher and a tutor, and often am commended on my ability to connect with students rather than simply present material. I enjoy motivating people to learn and to work hard.
