Experience Summary
After graduating from Florida State University with a degree in Child Development, I purchased, managed, and ran a sports-education program for preschoolers. I created all lesson plans and designed individual teaching programs for 2-6 years olds. During that time I also received my certification in K-6, as well as Athletic Coaching. I was a substitute teacher at a prominent private school in Orlando, and have worked as a tutor with various children and families in the Orlando area. My tutoring/teaching experience is with children aged Pre K-6th grade, however, I have Language Arts/English/Grammar expertise due to my other work experiences.
Teaching Style
My teaching philosophy is to be kind, considerate, and respectful to each student and caregiver I encounter. I aim to teach students with respect by listening to their needs, giving them time to express their feelings, and allowing positive and creative time to practice what they are learning. I believe my role is to help them develop skills to not only master the subject which I am teaching (tutoring) but to develop tools they can utilize throughout their education. I encourage my students with positive reinforcement, and believe that students respond better to teachers and tutors whom they respect and have developed a relationship with. My goal is to make their education appropriate, exciting, and empowering. I also believe that learning is a “team” effort which requires work from the student, teacher, and supportive family. If applicable, I aim to show respect to caregivers by allowing them time to express their concerns for their child’s education, keeping them informed in the learning process, and making their opinion valuable to the learning process.
