Experience Summary
As a conscientious and dynamic teacher with 7 years of experience, I have had a great deal of training in a variety of teaching styles and methods for reading, writing, and math. As an elementary and middle school teacher, I have had experience tutoring and teaching children of all ages. I have had extensive training and experience in teaching students how to write and in remedial reading. During the last ten years I have tutored students in reading, writing, and math; as well as helped students with organizational and study skills.
Teaching Style
I am a patient and encouraging teacher and believe that all children can learn. I feel it is important to meet children where they are at and grow them to reach their full potential. Since all students learn differently, I believe it is important to be flexible in my teaching methods. If a student is not understanding a concept, it is my job to find new ways to teach that concept until I find a way that clicks for that student. I feel I am especially skilled at taking large abstract concepts such as writing an essay, and breaking it down into small concrete components that any student can follow and learn. Lastly, I feel that organization and study skills play a large role in the academic success of students and must be incorporated into any academic plan for success.
