Experience Summary
I taught Court Reporting English (4 levels) for a private college in Bakersfield, CA., from 1986-1990. I have been tutoring students in English off and on for the past 18 years. Teaching-tutoring has always been an avocation rather than my vocation. I have some spare evening time and would like to continue to tutor.
Teaching Style
My teaching style is to get my students involved in the English process; from grammar to vocabulary to basic syntax, I try to make my classes fun and interesting as well as productive. English has always excited me and I want my students to be excited as well. I am often amazed at how a student's skill level improves when a teacher brings an element of fun to a classroom. A good example is having my students each bring a vocabulary word to class that they have recently heard or seen and try to "stump the teacher".
