Experience Summary
I graduated with honors from the College of Charleston (and the Honors College) with a degree in Business Administration/Finance and a minor in Pre-Actuarial studies. As part of my minor I completed Calculus I, II, III, and IV, Linear Algebra, and graduate courses in Probability and Statistics. I have had the opportunity to continually enhance my analytical abilities and will begin working on my Masters Degree in Mathematical Finance at UNCC this fall. Throughout college and high school I have had the opportunity to offer tutoring services to friends and class mates, which has allowed me to develop and improve my teaching skills.
Teaching Style
When helping students learn and understand material I believe it is important to first gain the student's trust, so they will not resist receiving help. I am a recent college graduate and find that it is easier to relate to, communicate with, and gain the trust of students, since I was in their position not long ago. Once the individual's trust is gained I will assess their learning style and determine the obstacles they are having with grasping the material. In doing this I can evaluate which elements to devote most of our time to practicing and understanding and which aspects the student will be able to pick up quickly. Watching a student's frustrations melt away as they gain confidence in themselves and their academic abilities is one of the most rewarding experiences I have ever had, and I would love to have the opportunity to continue helping students realize their full potential.
