Experience Summary
I recieved my Bachelor's Degree in Sociology and Criminal Justice from the University of Massachusetts. Upon graduation, I was offered a job as a Prevention Specialist with The Center for Drug Free Living. I was responsible for running an after school program that not only focused on the prevention of use of drugs and alcohol, but involved tutoring and homework help as well. I was also responsible for implementing activities that improved peer relations and self esteem among the children who ranged in age from 4-16.
Teaching Style
I have always enjoyed working with children of all ages. My teaching style is one of patience, compassion, and understanding. All children learn in a different way, and as a one-on-one tutor, it would be my responsibility to find out which learning style would help the child reach success in his or her studies. I also am a firm believer in positive reinforcement and celebrating the goals that the child has reached through our time together, instead of solely focusing on what still needs to be done.
