Experience Summary
English has always been my best subject. It was natural for me to major in English Education when I decided to go back to college. I believe that when I teach English, I make it fun but most importantly, understandable. I love reading and reviewing the different genres that this subject covers, especially short stories and novels. I have taken several workshops to help improve my ablility to teach writing and to help students prepare for the FCAT Writing Exam. However, my love is grammar. I understand it, and I love to teach it, whether it bores my students or not! I have not tutored professionally, but I do have 3 children (the oldest is 14). Every night I help them with their homework. I help my oldest child especially with any English related homework she may have. She knows that she can come to me, and I will be there to assist her.
Teaching Style
I believe that children can learn in many different ways. I am constantly researching different ways and techniques I can use in the classroom to better assist each student. I try to mix traditional teaching methods with fun games, facts, and activities that help to engage the learner. I have been told by many of my students that they still do not like English, but they love having me as their English teacher.
