Experience Summary
I am a life-long learner and have two master's degrees, one from Harvard. Because of my deep interest in how children learn, I also have a degree in child development. As a teacher's aide in a public school kindergarten, I spent five years tutoring children in reading, writing, math, science, and art. I also enjoy working with English language learners. I spent one year teaching early literacy skills to refugee children, and three years teaching English to Japanese children. Both as a student and as a financial analyst I have learned how to conduct research and write concise, informative reports and essays.
Teaching Style
I enjoy teaching, working with, and learning with children. Children have different learning styles and temperaments and I try to adapt my teaching to these differences. I am creative, patient, and enthusiastic. I firmly believe that children can learn more when there is support or scaffolding from good educators such as myself. I am also sensitive to cultural differences in learning. All children can learn and develop if provided with the right environment, experiences, and social interactions. My goal is to make learning fun and to encourage children's natural sense of curiosity and wonder.
