Experience Summary
I have somewhat of a unique situation, but I have been working with kids for many years. During my Junior and Senior Years in high school, i worked with 5th and 6th graders in my school, tutoring with Math and Language.
Upon graduating high school, I was asked to volunteer as a teaching assistant with an older woman who wanted help teaching 5th graders. I attended college classes during my off-time (which was usually evenings), and I am still taking college classes now. Since I have been working with her, though, I teach about half of the classes, and I have taught both 4th and 5th grade since 2002.
I teach math, language arts, spelling, reading, and have worked with some special needs students.
I have a lot of patience, and have worked as a teacher with all sorts of students for the past 6 years.
Teaching Style
Because I have had so many different students with different learning styles, I have learned to adjust my teaching methods so kids will find a way to understand it. I enjoy grasping the subjects so well that I can explore new ways of teaching so that anybody and everybody will eventually get it. I've learned that it takes a lot of patience to make sure that everybody is grasping it, and that sometimes you just have to keep trying, even if you think that there's no hope -- because there is always hope. Some kids take a lot more patience and perseverance, and it's always worth it to keep trying.
