Experience Summary
I have spent the last five years in the United Kingdom working on my bachelor and master degrees in English Literature and Applied Linguistics. From 2003-2006 I volunteered at the University's Language Resource Center where I tutored international students on their English language skills (reading, writing, speaking) and study skills. I have just spent the past two months (July-August 07) working at a study tour program for Italian students. I was an ESL teacher and taught 15-20 students at a time, focusing on writing in English and conversation skills. I am also in the process of getting my MA degree in Applied Linguistics. As part of my degree I assisted in writing and study skill work shops for undergraduate students.
Teaching Style
I choose to become a teacher because I think educators are one of, if not the most, influential people in the course of someone's life. Every student has the potential to excel in any subject, and I believe it is important to find out how the student learns best and implement this in teaching/tutoring them. Teaching requires patience and determination, and I believe these are two qualities I possess.
