Experience Summary
While I have not had a great deal of formal teaching experience, as an undergraduate I had the opportunity to tutor fellow students in biology and serve as a laboratory teaching assistant. I have also worked as a collegiate athletic coach, where I was able to foster teaching skills and develop and implement original daily learning plans. My education has allowed exposure to a variety of academic disciplines, especially psychology and the biological sciences. I have developed advanced writing and research skills through the completion of my PhD project and dissertation. Additionally, my graduate work has provided the opportunity to give numerous scientific talks and presentations at professional meetings and within a classroom setting.
Teaching Style
I thoroughly enjoy working with children and watching them discover new things. I am especially passionate about making science approachable and enjoyable for everyone. I am very relaxed and patient in my approach, and believe learning is best acheived through hands on, individually paced experience. I have spent many years as a student and feel I understand how to be a successful learner. In turn, I am eager to help others achieve academic success and gain experience as an educator.
