Teaching Style
I believe in the individual strengths of each student. The ultimate goal of any student is to develop a love of learning built upon their strengths. I believe in both cognitive behaviorial techniques, for the purposes of reinforcing positive and productive behavior. I believe that children are capable of developing intellectually when given the appropriate learning environment. I teach by utilizing stories, manipulatives, outdoor and indoor materials, and the child's current interests. I believe in the teachings of Lev Vgotzky, "scaffolding", which discovers where the child's knowledge is now, and builds upon that base. This is a very individualized and productive approach to teaching and learning.
