Experience Summary
Though I have only a modicum of formal teaching experience, I have attained two post-graduate degrees, both of which required extensive writing. I have also written professionally, my work being published nationwide. This education and work experience honed my grammar and composition skills to a significant degree. Combined with my work experience as a day camp counselor for the YMCA and an assistant college football coach, I am confident that my writing experience and advanced education will help me meet the requirements to be a high quality tutor.
Teaching Style
Teaching is one of the most rewarding activities one can pursue. When we think of widely admired people, whether they be athletes, political figures, artists, or musicians, most of them are honored not for their achievements in their fields of endeavor, but because they were great teachers. They used their talents to communicate more than how to score a goal, win an election, or play an instrument. I believe that teachers should be patient, tolerant, determined people who are living testaments to the value of thinking and learning. We are all simultaneously students as well as teachers, and should be receptive to what we can learn from those we teach, as well as perceptive of their specific needs. Teachers should teach both by facilitating learning and through the examples they set.
