Experience Summary
For the past 5-6 years I have been a tutor with two different students, both of whom are now beginning high school. Even though my educational backround is in Psychology and Interpersonal Communication, I worked with both students on reading, grammer, vocabulary, social studies, as well as some mathematics. I also worked for the Palm Beach County School District as an substitite aide for a boy with autism. I assisted him in all of his classes on a day to day basis, helping him stay focused on each particular subject. Due to my backround in General History subjects, the Florida Department of Education has declared me eligible to obtain a temporary teaching certificate in Social Science, grades K-12.
Teaching Style
My teaching approach is to be stern, but patient. Children need to be able to come to their own conclusions, whether in math, writing, or comprehension. This helps the children feel confident in their abilities to reason, discover, and come up with the proper solution to any probelm. However, I think a little guidance and help along the way may sometimes be neccessary. I love working with all types of children and with different learning styles, it is both challenging and rewarding.
