Experience Summary
In my 2nd year of teaching, I have enjoyed the experiences that have came my way due to my students. I enjoy going to work daily and leave almost everyday with a sense of gratification because of the accomplishments I help my students achieve. I currently teach 4th grade and feel this grade level has helped me fine tune my writing skills due to the demanding pressure placed on my students to pass the 4th grade writing test. I feel that I am already a good teacher, but know I can be better. Therefore, I will be starting my master’s degree in the summer of 2006 in hopes to become a more effective teacher.
Teaching Style
Teaching is an art that needs to be perfected based on each individual child’s needs. I am a very demanding teacher, but at the same time always fair and give positive reinforcement while the student is learning and of course, when they have obtained their goals. I teach using a variety of strategies, but feel that hands on learning works best for most students, especially those in a tutoring atmosphere. Therefore, many manipulatives for just about any concept are used in order to turn a problem into the solution.
