Experience Summary
I graduated from Colorado State University with a passion for working with children. I joined the Americorps program and became a Literacy Tutor in an elementary school. I had the priviledge to work with talented students and teachers. I gained a great understanding in the areas of reading and writing. To further my understanding of elementary reading and writing I have attended numerous seminars on tutoring and literacy strategies. I have tutored students in all subjects from math to geography and reading and writing.
Teaching Style
I have a strong desire and love for teaching and working with children. I find that if I can help a child understand their homework or help them read a story and they smile, then I have achieved success. I believe all children are successful and can learn, even if they learn in different ways. I think it is essential to set goals for the students I am working with and set goals for myself as the teacher. I want to make a difference in a child's life and I feel I can make that difference by helping them succeed in their education.
