Experience Summary
The joy of teaching has permeated my professional career, whether as Director of Education at three churches, the editor of a curriculum line, a substitute teacher filling in at the last minute, a well-traveled seminar/workshop leader, a freelance writer of curriculum and classroom tools; the volunteer facilitator of an ongoing weekly class, or most recently, as an educator at a small academy, teaching Creative Writing, Journalism and Latin in an impoverished area of Orlando. I have enjoyed investing my teaching gifts in students ranging from preschool to those in assisted living facilities. My enthusiasm for learning has taken me from English labs in Caracas, Venezuela, to Upward Bound Camps in rural Virginia.
Teaching Style
It has been my experience that every child can learn when taught with enthusiasm, care, and creativity. I attempt to lead students in discovering for themselves, as opposed to delivering spoon-fed answers. I believe that the most mundane subject can be infused with adventure. My classrooms are colorful and creative, inviting the learner to do just that: learn!
