Experience Summary
As a United States Air Force Academy graduate, I believe in the value of leadership, quality teaching and training. I have a BS in Basic Sciences; my strengths are in math, science and writing. I have strong spatial orientation skills and have written analyses of world military operations and political situations for the U.S. Air Force general staff. I have been a NAUI scuba instructor since 1991, a trumpet teacher for several years, and an inorganic chemistry and algebra tutor for the last year.
Teaching Style
I think learning and discovering is a "magical" experience. My memories of the first time I learned about the solar system and space exploration was mind-boggling. That is what I seek to bring to students--to find their interests and develop them so they have the drive to learn. I sincerely believe the process of learning and interacting with adults or mentors is how we learn social skills and the art of personal interaction that will ultimately determine our level of success. Tutoring is more than helping students achieve academic excellence; if done well, it's about instilling habits for success.
