Experience Summary
I have my degree in business. After ten years, I wanted a career that would make a difference for others, not just myself. As a father of two, I have coached kids and taught Sunday School for many years and love working with children. I went back to school to obtain my teaching degree and certification. I taught middle school social studies for two years and have spent the last four years at a maximum security prison teaching LD/SED children for the State of CT. I have extensive one-to-one experience with LD children in every subject. I am certified in Social Studies/Special Ed in CT and CA, and am in the process of getting certified in Florida.
Teaching Style
As a teacher I strive for fair but firm. I have certain expectations for my students and I try to the best of my abilities to help them succeed. I firmly believe in the idea that no two children learn alike and therefore I use multiple teaching strategies when implementing lesson plans with my students. I have a good sense of humor. I have found it to help tremendously when de-escalating serious and unsafe situations that may arise. I believe my students have also seen my sincerity in their education and therefore try harder than they might if they felt I did not care.
