Experience Summary
I attended one of the top programs for Early Childhood Education, where I spent two years student teaching a multi-age first and second grade class. After graduation, I selected a corporate path instead of the classroom, where I learned instruction design and delivery for adults as well. I left the corporate world in 2002 with the birth of my first child. I have spent the last two years 'teaching' my daughter in the home. I have always believed that one-on-one teaching is the best method to educate a child.
Teaching Style
I also believe that children are individuals and learn in different ways. I did not pursue a teaching career in the elementary school because I felt that my time was spent 50% discipline and 50% teaching. I much preferred the small group setting where I could focus more on the individualities of each child. With tutoring, I would have to adapt my teaching style for each child based on his/her learning style.
