Experience Summary
My level of academic excellence has led me to pursue a career in teaching. I have earned two degrees, AFA in Vocal Performance and BA in religion and philosophy which has demonstrated and expanded my experience, knowledge, and ability in the areas of fine and liberal arts. I have extensive understanding of grammatical skills due to my experience writing research and analytical essays and grading essays written by my students on a wide variety of topics. My time in college was spent tutoring students in history, math, science, English, psychology, French, Greek, and the arts. As a teacher I worked with students individually as well as in the classroom. In addition to academic training, I have instructed students in voice, guitar, acting, and piano both formally and informally over the last six years.
Teaching Style
I love to see a student light up when he realizes for the first time that he is capable of achieving success in an area that he has previously experienced failure. I understand that each person has his own way of learning and I am sensitive to those who need special attention or non-traditional forms of learning. My goal is to provide each student with the tools and knowledge to learn on their own. Incorporating basic study skills into a lesson is key to watching a student become an independent and lifetime learner. I believe that learning is fun and hopefully my enthusiasm and love for learning can help spark a similar love in my student.
