Experience Summary
As a humanistic educator, I have always been driven to teach in various capacities, even after qualifying as a Civil Engineer. I completed course work at the graduate level to earn my certification in North Carolina to teach mathematics and physical science. I have served deligently from the middle school level to the college level. I taught middle school mathematics and physical science for several years prior to my teaching assignment within the public high school system in both Mecklenburg and Union Counties. I have taught algebra 1 and 2, geometry, business mathematics, pre-calculus and calculus with differential equations at Independence High School and Forest Hills High School respectively. I've also taught college students at Western Piedmont Community College in several areas.
Teaching Style
I love to teach, period. I believe that as a humanistic educator, all children can learn if given the right attention and the right motivation to succeed. In the past, I have worked with students from all backgrounds and economic strata-AG students, "At-risk" students, and they taught me to be deligent but not gullible, firm but not overbearing, and to always give a calm and penetrating judgement in times of crisis. In the interim, I am pleased to say that I have taught over five thousand students in the state of North Carolina that are presently giving their major contributions to the building of the state and country. I am very proud of that.
I am a firm believer in teaching through experimentation, discovery and in providing challenging opportunities for students to grow. My goal is to proide the best education money can buy. I believe children learn by doing, and not by spoon-feeding. I am very patient and considerate.
