Experience Summary
I have a comprehensive background in both early childhood, elementary, and secondary schools. As a special education teacher, I am familiar with a vast range of student needs and current research-based practices to be used within the classroom. This knowledge has enabled me to grow as a professional, while allowing my students to thrive at his/her education level.
While teaching in New Mexico, I taught using "English as a Second Language" models and strategies to non-native English speakers. This allowed for my delivery to be fine-tuned in a way that is more extensive based on individual need.
I combine my experience and education in a style that serves to enhance learning, while being committed to professional development. I am currently tutoring online and working independently for an educational assessment company.
Teaching Style
As a special education teacher, I have a passion for students who have more specific challenges or needs related to the learning process. Thus, I am an advocate for differentiated instruction and have experience meeting the challenges of these students.
My delivery has provided multi-modal instruction to students with special needs both individually and within classroom settings. Students’ disabilities ranged from severe to mild. Support was provided in both small groups and in team taught classrooms.
I have experience teaching and tutoring students in Language Arts, Literature, Social Studies, and Math based on students’ abilities.
