Experience Summary
As a current substitute teacher, tutor, credential student, and life long learner, I am extremely interested in the welfare and education of my students.
My work history and professional encounters are extremely eclectic. This translates into the fact that I have a solid background within the realm of daily capitalism, business, and private industry, combined with positive experiences while working with non-profit organizations, community groups, volunteers, and migrant workers in various locations throughout the Midwestern United States. In the past I have had the pleasure of assisting children from diverse environments and low income families through Head Start and Migrant Day Care Programs. They ranged in ages from 7 weeks to 12 years old. As a NCLB tutor, I currently help children in grades K-12. As a substitute teacher with various school districts, I am currently preparing myself for a full-time teaching position. I have also been asked to volunteer at my local church where I would assist children with their religious studies.
Teaching Style
I consider my ability to observe and adapt to situations that may not be considered ordinary as an advantage. Through education, I have developed techniques that enhance my analytical and critical thinking skills. My closest linguistic “friends” in life are How, What, When, Where, Who, and Why. With their help and the help of others, I know I will succeed as a teacher and student. I am a perpetual pupil and will remain so until the end. I also draw upon my experiences as a husband, parent, son, brother, friend, and associate when assessing interactions and conversations with those individuals I come into contact with on a daily basis. We are all here and together for such a short time, and time is an irreplaceable asset. Therefore, it only stands to reason that moments of learning should not be wasted. I consider teaching to be a privilege as well as a serious responsibility, and I will never take my position for granted. My efficacy as a teacher will be based on how well I contribute to the betterment of myself and others. Let the journey begin.
