Experience Summary
After earning my bachelor's degree in History and Political Science, I went on to complete the teacher's certification program through the University of Phoenix. I began teaching middle school Language Arts, Reading, Writing, and Social Studies at a small private school in Tucson, AZ in 2001. I have worked with students at various levels in all subject areas both as a teacher and as a tutor.
Teaching Style
I love children and believe that every child can learn. In my classroom, I provided a multitude of diverse learning experiences for my students - from experimentation to cooperative learning. I support the multiple intelligences theory and always attempted to accommodate students' various learning needs. For example, when finishing a novel, students were given options for completing a book project: traditional book report, building a model of a favorite scene and presenting it to the class, creating a scrapbook for a main character and presenting it, etc. I held high standards for my students but always provided the tools for them to achieve those standards.
