Experience Summary
Over the years, I have worked with children from 2 years old upward to college/graduate school students. I started tutoring informally in 10th grade in high school, and together with a fellow classmate initiated a project to offer large-scale tutoring throughout the school. I also taught Calculus to my fellow classmates in the 12th grade after our teacher fell ill. All through college and graduate school I tutored and taught formally as a teaching associate. More recently, I've worked as a substitute teacher [all subjects] in Palm Beach County, with all levels of students.
Teaching Style
Students under my tutelage can expect an individualized, student-centered instructional approach. I work to establish a professional, yet compassionate, rapport with my students that fosters a sense of ownership on the part of the student and mutual understanding of our roles. I employ a conversational approach to get to know the student [and family] and develop reasonably attainable goals. My instructional approach utilizes scaffolding and linking to help students build confidence with the subject matter. Moreover, by relating directly to the student and his/her experiences, I work to make the learning process enjoyable.
