Experience Summary
I have worked as a high school Language Arts teacher for the past 18 years. I have taught a variety of literature, composition, and public speaking courses. I have experience teaching students in all high school grades (grades 9-12). I also have extensive experience working with high school aged students in various capacities outside the classroom, such as coaching, club sponsor, class sponsor, and driver education teacher. I also have conducted writing workshops to prepare students to take the Michigan Merit Exam and ACT. I have a great deal of experience working with students in on-on-one situations. I have also completed extensive college course work in Social Studies.
Teaching Style
My teaching style can be best described as “student centered.” I enjoy the challenge of determining the needs of the individual student and using my skills and experience as an educator to focus on those needs in a way that helps the student learn most effectively. My students find me both personable and approachable, which are two qualities that have helped me to be highly successful at one-on-one student interaction in the past.
