Experience Summary
As a Midwestern woman from Chicago, I grew up with a very strong work ethic. I put myself through college by working in the business world each summer and college breaks. I attended Illinois State University where I was taught how to be self-sufficient and how to really think. I am resourceful and know how to find information as well. But, most of all I am a good, concise writer. As words are all we have to communicate so I choose mine carefully. For the past year-and-a-half I have worked as a Broward County substitute teacher in a variety of schools. I enjoy the middle school age group a great deal.
Teaching Style
Children relate well to me. I am not a dictator and the work still gets done. Everyone has his/her own rate and style for learning. I want a child to feel comfortable around me and not nervous. As a teacher it is my job to find which method works for each child. Some children may prefer to read a great deal alone and then write an essay. Another may prefer a boisterous classroom with a lot of student/teacher interaction. I try to accomodate each child. I would want to instill a love of learning and curiosity about our world.
