Experience Summary
My professional career was in the design and development of computer-based software applications. I worked for nearly 30 years on various computer platforms, using several different languages. I also spent two years at Gateway Community College (New Haven, CT) as ad hoc instructor in Accounting, Management, Computer programming and system design. Part of my work experience included in-house presentations of new computer technology to both programmers and the end user community.
Teaching Style
I started tutoring about three years ago and have found it very rewarding. My first assignment was as ESOL instructor with new citizens to the U.S. From that point on I have worked with High School and Middle School students in Math (Algebra, Geometry, Trig and basic math) in English (Grammar, Creative Writing, Reading Comprehension) and with some computer software (EXCEL, WORD). I believe in trying to detect specific weaknesses in a student's comprehension, and then trying to present materials that will clarify his understanding.
