Experience Summary
I have performed "in-service" training in all of my previous employment. Some of my freelance work involved tutoring professionals on computer use. My professional work involved training and mentoring two interns (age 17). My undergraduate research subject was teaching medical professionals to utilize computers as a bedside tool for information management. My masters thesis subject was teaching teachers (elementary level) to use computers as a tool for learning in the classroom. I have three children of my own (ages 6-18yrs) of whom I have spent countless hours mentoring, coaching, and teaching (home schooling) and homework, homework, homework.
Teaching Style
As a graduate with a Masters Degree in Human Services Administration, I am motivated to achieve a level of excellence in education. I performed investigative research involving computer literacy as a tool in primary education and healthcare settings. I have worked in primary education, with professionals, and clients of all ages as an information management consultant/personal assistant. Much of this work involved tutoring in client's homes as well as classroom/in-service instruction. I hold a BS in Information Management and the current credentials of RHIA (Registered Record Administrator) with understanding of basic educational subjects and their application in many areas. I have extensive grammatical skills due to writing research papers and interpreting medical and administrative reports. I have mentored teenage students in healthcare settings as well as mature adult volunteers. I am a positive, enthusiastic, patient, and humanitarian oriented individual who enjoys working one on one with clients. I consider education to be paramount; hence my status as independent contractor/consultant for the past seven years. Previously I had extensive educational background in cultural studies, particularly the performing and fine arts. I look toward obtaining a teaching certificate at some time in the near future.
