Experience Summary
During my four years at Case Western Reserve University, I became aware of the needs of the city schools in the area and worked to help improve the situations in the schools. I worked with AmericaREADS, OhioREADS and other similar programs to help tutor children who were not able to get the individual attention they needed in the classroom. Because of my background in engineering, I am excellent in math and science but I also enjoy helping in reading, writing, and assisting the children in enhancing their studying skills.
Teaching Style
I enjoy working with children of most ages although I worked mainly with K, first, fourth and high school levels during my four years of experience. I believe everyone has the ability to reach their greatest potential with appropriate help and that sometimes extra assistance can be the difference between success and failure. I use rewards to help children feel better about what they have accomplished. I encourage the use of creativity in learning as long as it does not distract from the lesson that needs to be learned.
