Experience Summary
I have been teaching for seven years. I graduated with a BS in Elementary Education and taught for several years in the general education setting. During these years, I realized that there were many kids who learned "differently" and I wanted to ensure that I could best educate all children. I then began graduate school and earned an MA in Exceptional Education. I currently teach a class consisting of general education students, students with ADD/ADHD, students with varying forms of Autism, and a student with a hearing impairment.
In the past, I worked for the Dyslexia Institute of America where I tutored students with dyslexia. I have also tutored privately for the past 6 years in varying grade levels/subject areas.
Teaching Style
I love going to work every day! I hold high expectations for all of my students, and I work very hard to find the way that each child learns best so that he/she can be successful.
I am patient and kind, and I do not give up. I always offer praise and positive feedback to my students and help them achieve goals that I have for them, and more importantly, that they have for themselves.
I pride myself in giving my students a safe and comfortable learning environment. I believe that is the first thing needed for them to learn and be successful.
All children can succeed- they just need the appropriate tools to do so.
