Experience Summary
I come from a strong background in community building and civic leadership. I was drawn to teaching by the simple pleasure of working with students and the joy of being able to pass on what I have learned with others. During the last couple of years, I have worked with students of a variety of ages and in a variety of settings. I have experience ranging from teaching high school history, to serving as a volunteer helping guide rising seniors through the complicated college application process. In my Masters of Arts in Teaching, I learned to create lessons to interest and engage all students and I look forward to using my experiences to help students in the Triangle Area.
Teaching Style
I believe all growth in the classroom has to come from a positive relationship between the student and the teacher. The excitement of learning can only come in an environment in which the student is comfortable and relaxed. Accordingly, I relate to each student on a personal level and try to make each lesson as interactive as possible. When a lesson is interactive, the student will be more engaged. Furthermore, lessons are better remembered when reinforced by hearing, speaking, and moving.
