Experience Summary
Over the past four years, I have been teaching both high school and middle school level mathematics (Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Geometry, Algebra 2, and Pre-Calculus) at both regular and honors levels. With a bachelors degree in Business, I have made myself useful as tech support for both students and faculty, and with a masters in Education specializing in secondary mathematics, I have extensive knowledge of both curriculum and the tools to break topics down. In addition, I have tutored in chemistry, basic sciences, Spanish, some English, and almost every level of 6-12 mathematics.
Teaching Style
My teaching style is a combination of traditional methodologies, and more current ideals of classroom participation. I like to keep my students active, involved, and engaged. I try to accomplish this goal by putting the ball in their court, so to speak. I believe that learning is an active process, not a passive one, so my students are forced to work and really put their minds into it. On the other hand, I also put a great emphasis on basic skill sets (times tables, graphing by hand, memorizing those things that are must knows) and knowing the fundamentals before moving on to the fancy stuff.
