Experience Summary
I started out doing nanny work in college. After graduating in 1998, I moved to Detroit, Michigan to pursue a career in language studies. I became the Language Training Director for a language services company. I supervised a teaching staff of 150 instructors who gave language instruction to businessmen and women who were relocating for business purposes. We gave instruction in language and culture, while providing relocation help to families who were settling in the US. In 2002 I taught American Literature and Conversational English classes at Oral Roberts University's University Language Institute. In 2003, I worked as an Aupair and tutor in Switzerland for 1 year. After returning to the states, in 2004 I taught Preschool, 2nd Grade and 3rd Grade for 2 1/2 years.
Teaching Style
I believe that teaching should be student-directed. Teachers should pique the curiosity of their students, and act as a resource for the acquisition of knowledge. Whenever possible, education should be hands-on, interactive and should always stimulate -- not bore -- the student.
