Experience Summary
Ambitious and inquisitive, achievement in the academic arena has always been a priority of mine, as I constantly strive to broaden my educational horizons. After earning a B.S. in Physiological Science in three years, I went on to receive an M.S. in Biomedical Engineering with a specialization in Molecular and Cellular Bioengineering the following year. I am currently in my first year in the combined M.D./Ph.D. program at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, and as an aspiring physician-scientist, I have had a plethora of opportunities to cultivate skills that are applicable across disciplines, such as problem-solving approaches and critical reading/writing techniques. Over the past nine years, I have been tutoring students in various stages of their education (from grade school to college and beyond) in a number of academic subjects, including English, mathematics, the sciences, humanities, and Spanish.
Teaching Style
My love of learning is evident in my desire to impart unto others a thirst for knowledge and skills for success. I harbor a strong desire to do all that I can to inspire other students, and to help create a collaborative and supportive educational environment - I am patient and kind, responsible and organized, devoted and enthusiastic. I believe that a great educator is tantamount to the best conductor - communication is essential in enabling the players to reach the high notes. With that in mind, I am confident that the key to making concepts accessible to students lies in the ability to present the material in a way that is both interesting and relevant. I have found, too, that it is equally important to motivate my students to keep in their minds' eye the unparalleled sense of accomplishment they will feel when they enjoy the wonderful result of their dedication.
