Experience Summary
Graduating from Texas Woman's University Summa Cum Laude as well as a valedictorian from a high school in Finland, I always appreciated learning as well as teaching others. I pursued a teaching degree post-college because of my desire to ignite children to learn the way I was excited to pursue new subjects. However, after the degree in teaching, I ventured off in another direction, pursuing a career in the arts. My desire to teach never ceased, and once again, I am enthusiastic about the opportunity to embark the ship of learning.
Teaching Style
I am excellent at relating to children using cognitive skills. I am compassionate, understanding and a good listener, yet firm, directional, and encouraging. I truly believe that each child has the potential and will to learn. It is the method and approach of teaching as well as positive encourgement that can change the course of learning. I've worked with children diagnosed as mentally handicapped who've found the passion in learning in books assigned at their level of learning - something that was initially deemed as "outside of their capability". Hence, I embrace every child with the same appreciation and respect regardless of their environment or biological disposition.
