Experience Summary
During my time at Ohio University, I excelled in a variety of classes and activities. Most of my interests involve writing. In English Literature and History classes, I wrote complex essays. I also took Journalism courses at OU's prestigious Scripps school, and wrote for the school paper. Outside of class, I have written for professional publications such as SCENE Magazine. After graduating, I traveled to China taught essay writing and ESL at a Chinese university for one year. Each week, I prepared lessons and delivered them to 200 students in an interesting way. I also tutored Chinese English learners in my free time.
Teaching Style
My teaching style is an extension of my personality. I am curious about the world and my curiosity is infectious, so I can easily raise a student's interest in a subject. I have a positive vibe, but I'm not afraid to give constructive criticism. However, I can do that without discouraging the student. I expect my students to concentrate at the task at hand. I am patient and I'm willing to work with a student until they get results. I get a lot out of helping people learn and gain the skills to succeed.
