Experience Summary
As a graduate with a BA in English Education, I received the most up-to-date and professional instruction in education. I specialize in secondary education but have tutored elementary students in reading as well as testing skills. As a high school English teacher I work with young adults every day in the classroom as well as after school in the tutoring program. While completing my degree, I also tutored students in basic psychology, history, and in writing labs. I have taken part in SCETA sponsored SAT preparation professional development courses to better prepare me in SAT tutoring.
Teaching Style
With regards to my teaching style, I am a pragmatist. I believe that every student has the ability to learn if given the proper instruction, attention, and feedback. As a classroom teacher in public school, I try to create the kind of learning environment that will not only nurture creative and free thinking but will also further each student's analytical thinking skills. I am very patient and have worked these past two years with high achieving, intermediate, and special needs students. I am able to help teach students of all types how to learn.
