Experience Summary
I began tutoring friends and neigbors shortly after returning home from Michigan in 1995. I didn't earn my degree from Michigan until 2000. However, I spent the years in between working full time and taking classes. Many of my jobs involved tutoring students. In 2001 I received my Masters Degree in Elementary Education from Temple, and taught in the shcool district from January 2001 - June, 2002. I have tutored students mainly in mathematics, but when needed in other subjects.
Teaching Style
My teaching style is extremely interactive. I do not believe I hold all of the knowledge and the students should defer to me. I like to begin by informally ascertaining what the students know about a given topic instead of assuming either lack of or mastery of said subject. I love using hands on materials and making the subjects relevant to students real life situations. I believe that all students, including those with learning disabilities, can achieve at levels that even adults could not imagine.
