Experience Summary
My educational background has given me a strong foundation in several areas of higher education. My undergraduate training began in Biomedical Engineering; however, I switched my focus to Biological Sciences, with an emphasis on Neurobiology and Physiology, in order prepare myself for further education in dentistry. I attended dental school, which relied heavily on my understanding of math, science, and engineering. My undergraduate studies also included a wide array of fine arts course work. My writing skills are strong and were utilized in writing essays, research papers, and laboratory reports. I worked during dental school as a teaching assistant for laboratory and lecture courses, which included tutoring students in dental course work. Additionally, I was hired upon graduation from dental school as an assistant professor, and taught clinical and laboratory courses in dental prosthodontics for 18 months.
Teaching Style
I believe that education is the key to unlock the doors of opportunity. I love to watch the excitement in a person when they learn something new. Many times, it is just figuring out HOW a person best learns for a new concept to take root and grow into understanding. My goal is to help each student find their best learning approach, so that they are better able to understand the material. I believe that learning should be fun and exciting, and I hope that I can provide that atmosphere by individually discovering new and innovative ways to help provide better understanding of the subject. I am patient, nurturing, and love to laugh.
