Experience Summary
While earning my degree in English, I developed teaching and communication skills through both curricular and extra-curricular experiences. As an intended Secondary Education minor, I took many classes in education, including a middle and high school practicum. I also tutored students in grammar and composition, as well as foreign students in conversational English. I strongly considered teaching as a profession after graduation, but I wanted to earn my law degree first. While studying for the LSAT, I took an online course, mastering test-taking skills in all three parts: logic “games,” analytical reasoning, and reading comprehension. Graduating summa cum laude from the University of Florida, with extensive work in research, analysis, and writing, these skills came easy to me. Currently, I am a teaching assistant for Legal Writing and Research and thoroughly enjoy helping 1L’s also master these important skills in law school.
Teaching Style
I believe that everyone learns in different ways and at different speeds; teaching begins with discovering the learning needs of each student. With this understanding, I believe that essentially any student can learn any subject if the curriculum is engineered to meet that student's learning needs. While the classroom encourages group learning, individual tutoring can meet the individual needs of each student. As a tutor, I enjoy overcoming barriers to learning, connecting with the student on his or her own level, and communicating the subject material through an individualized method.
