Experience Summary
I have worked in education at the community college level for several years. I worked as an English Tutor for four years at Washtenaw Community College before being asked to join the part-time teaching staff. My class load consisted mostly of Composition I and Technical Writing classes; occasionally I would substitute for Literature courses when needed. In addition to my educational experience, I also have corporate experience working as a Technical Writer/Documentation Specialist in companies such as: EDS, GM, and Consumer Energy.
Teaching Style
I can’t imagine myself not spending the rest of my life teaching. I have worked both in the educational field and the corporate world and without a doubt I know with whom my heart belongs. As a tutor at an Ann Arbor based institution I had the opportunity to work with a number of different backgrounds and styles of learning. I aided a varying degree of students needs such as: grammatical usage, content flow and structure, topic generation, sentence structure, MLA/APA implementation, research methods, written language norms, etc. I have great passion for both education and learning which I hope to share with every student with whom I work. I believe every student is cable of producing a positive educational outcome if given the proper tools and encouragement. Not all students comprehend material in the same way, I believe it is up to educators to help their students recognizes their strengths and educate them on how to use them.
