Experience Summary
I have a BA in Math and a love of logic. When I completed my degree, I was only a few courses shy of a second BA in philosophy. My other loves are spelling, grammar, poetry, literature, mind-activating games and puzzles, and similar activities. For the 2005-2006 school year, I took a long term substitute position for 6 months as a full-time instructor for drop-out prevention high school math students.
Teaching Style
Working with drop-out prevention students inspired me and showed me that I have a talent for sharing my knowledge in a way that is intelligible and absorbable, as well as transcendable beyond the average classroom environment. I prefer to educate by asking my pupils leading questions that encourage them to use their own internal skills to arrive at an answer, rather than being "spoon fed" or otherwise assisted. My attitude is professional but caring, and I feel that I'm able to relate to children and teens in a manner that inspires both respect and good work output. I offer verbal praise and similar positive reinforcement to help facilitate continued beneficial results.
