Experience Summary
I earned a BA in History from Occidental College and for the last year of school I worked part-time for a tutoring company called "The Academic Advantage" in the following subjects: Math (Algebra, Geometry), Spanish, Social Studies, and test preparation (for entry into private schools). During this time, I worked with both private clients and students contracted through the LAUSD school district. This provided me with valuable experience working with children of varying ability level as well as students who were economically and racially diverse.
Over the past year, I have worked as a High School Special Education Assistant for a very successful charter school in St. Paul. This experience has given me valuable strategies for working with children who have a wide range of needs and learning styles. It has equipped me with the patience and tools for working with all types of students.
Teaching Style
People who have come to know me professionally or personally understand immediately that I have a very personable and laid back character. This allows me to gain a meaningful and long-lasting repport with students. In addition to being patient, I have the ability to break down complicated material into a very organized and "step by step" approach. I believe that all students have different methods of learning and I am very capable of adapting my style of teaching to the particular needs of the student.
